This exhibition celebrates the vibrant, joyous warmth of Vancouver summers. This collection carries those memories—views of Moraine Lake, plates of ripe summer fruits, summers spent in Japan, or quiet moments with family at home that feels juxtaposed to the often-grayscale reality of "Raincouver”.
This collection of traditional acrylic and oil paintings, created by students from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, transforms the Commercial Street Cafe into a radiant and lively, temporary space. By assembling these gleaming works, we invite visitors coming in for a simple cup of coffee to pause and bask in a moment of breezing warmth. We hope these displayed artworks can serve as a passage from the emotional drain caused by consistent rain, heavy workloads, or even conflicts in our daily human interactions.
This is our attempt to provide a safe space for the visitors who can take a breath and enjoy the loose and chill summer vibe and momentarily forget about the fast-paced gloomy winter days ahead.
